TechWiseTV

It turns out Cisco has been sponsoring an hour-long monthly webcast called TechWiseTV since late 2006, which I only recently found out about. Deviating from the normal sales-oriented, Powerpoint style of Cisco presentations, the show is decidedly "television-like" and mildly entertaining. Why they haven't done more to promote it is beyond me.

While one should expect to find some amount of product placement in any production bearing the Cisco logo, I was pleasantly surprised in the level of technical detail present in the TechWiseTV back episodes I perused (especially the botnet episode). Their next episode airs Thursday, August 21st, entitled, "Energy Efficiency in the Data Center." I suspect its emphasis will be more on APC and EMC/VMware than on Cisco, but it still looks worth a watch. Preview below.

Unfortunately, registration and/or a guest-level CCO account is required for access, and the video is only viewable in RealPlayer (which actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be).
