About Packet Life

Packet Life began as the personal blog of Jeremy Stretch in March 2008 while he was deployed to Iraq as a US Department of Defense contractor. Since then, the blog has grown into a popular community site for network engineers the world over.

About the Site

Packet Life is a collection of mostly custom code running on top of the Django Python web framework. The site is served by a Gentoo Linux virtual server hosted by Rackspace Cloud.

About Jeremy Stretch

Stretch got his start in networking rather early, having obtained his CCNA certification at age 17 through a vocational program in high school. In 2003, he served a four-year enlistment in the US Air Force as a 3C2X1 tech controller. His duty station for the bulk of this enlistment was Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. Following his honorable discharge from the USAF, Stretch worked for nearly two years as a defense contractor at Camp Korean Village, Iraq, primarily in support of the US Marine Corps (ooh-rah!).

Stretch currently resides on the edge of the Washington, DC metro area in Fairfax, Virginia. He works as a senior network engineer for a large managed services provider.
