Hi,
I have a ISR 2800 which i am now locked out because i did not set username and password when i logged in for the first time. I did configure the router and did we mem and after a while my console session timeout.
I did perform the passwd recovery and after this i can still stuck at cisco one timr password screen where username cisco and password cisco does not work any more and it looks like passwd recovery did not change anything....
Please advise how i can recover from this one time username and password scenario...

Is there a different method to over come this?

Thanks

You should just have to do the break sequence and then enter the following in rommon:

rommon 1>confreg0x2142

prompt boot to flash, ignore current config

rommon 2>reset

Just did this to check my memory on one of my routers sitting around and it worked without a hitch(blanked the config and let it timeout without setting user/pw)

Works, on the new 1900 as well

after password reset remember to change the config-register to the default value or you won't be able load the router with a config file after any restart.

And also don't forget to either delete the startup config (if you don't want it), or to load it to running config then change the password and save. Otherwise you'll have the same problem next time you reload.
