Hi all, My question is about using backup-circuits.For one project we have 1 gshdsl and 3g connection.3g connection will be used as backup. the sceneria is like that cpe and pe is talking with BGP over g.shdsl.PE announce default route to cpe.when the link goes or the bgp session have problem then the dialer of 3g is activated and routing continues over 3G circuit.

My second sceneria is using static routing between CPE and PE.In this situation i have problem for instance i plug out the g.shsdl cable then 3G circuit become active because the interface goes down and the default route clear from routing table then this makes the 3g connection establish.

But if i shutdown the L3 interface from PE side then there is no action at the cpe.Because it thinks that everthing ok because the interface still up.

My question is how i can test the L3 connection between cpe and pe.If i cant do this i may not use static-routing for 3G backup.

Could you give me some opinion about it?

Thanks

Best Regards

Look into object tracking, you can invoke a static route only when when certain parameters exist, such as line protocol down, and/or no default/specific route/s recieved:
