I have been looking for a way to log SNMP traps from our Cisco gear and haven't really found a free easy solution out there. I was wondering what people are using to log snmp trap?

Thanks BBB

Just for logging snmptrapd from net-snmp is fine. For some webui, nagios or any nms (opennms, zabbix, ...)

Thanks for the input. I do have snmptrapd setup but I would like something a little more easy to read then a large logfile.

I have been hunting for a good doc outlining how to get snmptraps reporting in nagios or nms.

Any input would be great.

I've become a pretty big fan of OpenNMS (www.opennms.org), one of the few truly open source products out there for Network Management. Its java based so it will run on anything, but I've found it is much less work having it on a linux system rather than Windows. If you are tied to Windows take a look at Spiceworks.

After lots of digging around I finally settled on using Cacti – CAMM Pluging – SNMPTT and Net-SNMP to log and display SNMP Traps. I have written a howto to get everything working together on my blog http://www.manualtokenring.com/

yeah there is a alot out there, SNMP is not always easy but almost limitless.

zenoss is something opensource i would also recommend if you expect to scale up you monitoring with more than just SNMP to a few boxes and want to have ping every minute and syslog all combined. can do nagios plugins aswell and updates and develops quite often.
