I'm trying to obtain some cheap/free colocation space in Northern Virginia, in or around the Fairfax/Herndon/IAD area for a free public lab I'm working on. Ideally, I'd like to secure at least half a rack (20U+) of space. Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford the commercial rate for this much rack space, so I figured I'd turn to the community in search of a donor or sponsor. The space will be used primarily for 1-2U routers and switches with modest power draw, one or two low-end servers, and some other miscellaneous gear (console server, etc.). I can provide a rack if necessary. As the bulk of the traffic will be remote terminal (telnet/SSH), bandwidth requirements are low. I'm also willing to run my own independent broadband connection if the facility will permit. In exchange for donated or discounted rack space, I'm happy to negotiate a sponsorship deal, and can offer your organization exposure to ~30,000 network engineers and other IT professionals per month. If interested, please shoot me a PM or email me at stretch at packetlife.net. |

Unstickying this thread, as I figured I'll just host it in my apartment for the immediate future. And if I end up buying a house next year I should have no problem hosting it in the garage. |
